CHAI are back with a new song, and it comes with an accompanying animated video. The Japanese quartet’s new one is called “Ready Cheeky Pretty,” and its video was co-directed by Hideto Hotta and the band’s bassist YUUKI (who also illustrated the video). Watch it below. The band discussed the new song in a statement:

KEEP IT REAL Go back to the real you! It’s all about moving forward
and living by instinct! To go forward with the voice of your heart!
Nothing symbolizes this more for us than the carefree nature,
strength, and purity of a monkey. We pay homage to this in ‘Ready
Cheeky Pretty’ because we feel that animals have the ability to be
REAL more than humans. It’s this type of song! Take a listen!

The band have been sharing livestreams three times a week on Instagram Live on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 11 p.m. Eastern. The band have also covered Kyu Sakamoto’s “Ue o Muite Arukō,” which is commonly called “Sukiyaki Song.” The Japanese standard is often sung during times of strife to help uplift people. Hear CHAI’s rendition below.
