Moor Mother and Olof Melander have started a new series to raise funds for disability justice. The first release in the series is ANTHOLOGIA 01, which Moor Mother said was recorded the week of March 14 and consists of “89% percent freestyle poems stretching the sounds as we moved closer to a deadline.”

Don Giovanni Records will release 200 cassette editions of the project. Hear excerpts of ANTHOLOGIA 01 below.

In a statement, Moor Mother said she wanted to make a music project to help “Black women, elder community members, and trans and queer community members with needs to medical equipment or supplies.” Digital and tape proceeds go to the Philadelphia-based Afrofuturist Affair’s Futurist Fund. In addition, Moor Mother hopes to raise enough additional money with ANTHOLOGIA 01 to purchase a motorized wheelchair.
