Big Sean announced today that his new album Detroit 2—the sequel to 2012’s Detroit—finally has a release date. It’s coming on September 4. Tonight, he’s shared a new single from the album, and it features the late Nipsey Hussle. Listen to “Deep Reverence” below.

On the track, Big Sean references Kendrick Lamar. “After what happened to Nipsey I reached out to Kendrick/There wasn’t even no real issues there to begin with/Lack of communication and wrong information from people fueled by the ego it’s like mixing flames with diesel.” Sean downplayed rumored tensions between him and Kendrick in an interview with Joe Budden earlier this year.

Detroit 2 was announced without a release date back in March. Before he announced the album, he released a series of new songs last year, including “Overtime,” “Single Again,” and “Bezerk.” The Detroit rapper’s last solo studio album, I Decided., was released in 2017. That same year, he dropped the Metro Boomin collaboration Double or Nothing.

Nipsey Hussle died in a shooting last year. He posthumously won Grammys for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration earlier this year, and last year, appeared on a new DJ Khaled song.
