R. Kelly’s federal trial for child pornography and obstruction charges has been moved to September 13, 2021, The New York Times reports. The trial was originally scheduled to begin April 27, 2020 in Chicago, and given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. District Judge Harry D. Leinenweber acknowledged that the new date could change again.

Kelly was arrested in July 2019 on a 13-count federal indictment that alleges he sexually abused minors and also conspired to obstruct justice. He has pled not guilty to the charges.

Kelly is facing numerous charges, including sexual misconduct charges in Hennepin County, Minnesota, a five-count indictment in New York “involving the coercion and transportation of women and girls in interstate commerce to engage in illegal sexual activity,” and more. He has pled not guilty to the charges in Brooklyn and Cook County, Illinois.
