This year marks the 20th anniversary of Fugazi’s last public show. To celebrate that, Washington, D.C. area movie theater AFI Silver is screening a 90-minute-long collection of “crowd-sourced, fan-recorded live shows and rare archival footage” called We Are Fugazi From Washington, DC. The one-night-only screening takes place on February 11 and, as is to be expected, tickets cost $5. See the poster below.

We Are Fugazi From Washington, DC was curated by Joe Gross, Joseph Pattisall, and Jeff Krulik. The program includes footage shot by filmmaker Lance Bangs, who shared multiple videos teasing it on social media. The AFI Silver event page specifies that the screening is “not a documentary,” but rather a way to “celebrate the fans and their cameras, as much as the band itself — a collision/collusion of the ephemeral moment on stage, and the moments captured on camera.”

Fugazi released their last album, The Argument, in 2001. After concluding their U.K. tour in support of the LP on November 4, 2002, the post-hardcore band said they were going on an “indefinite hiatus.” Fugazi have never performed live in public since then, although the members have played music together in private several times. In 2014, Fugazi released First Demo, which was recorded in 1988 at Inner Ear Studio after the band had only played 10 shows.

Ian MacKaye, Joe Lally, and Brendan Canty have gone on to form various side-projects over the years, including the Evens, the Messthetics, and Coriky. As for Guy Picciotto, he’s produced albums for Blonde Redhead, the Blood Brothers, Gossip, and others.
