As soon as you step into The Oberoi Marrakech, you are transported into a world of luxury and sensory indulgence. From the moment you set foot on the property, every sense is heightened, and you are enveloped in an experience unlike any other.

Sight

The first thing that strikes you about this whimsical palace is its stunning architecture. The property is a modern interpretation of traditional Moroccan design, with its domed roofs, intricate tilework, and expansive courtyards. As you walk through the property, you are enveloped by stunning vistas of the Atlas Mountains in the distance, which provide a breathtaking backdrop to this oasis of tranquillity.

Sound

The sound of Marrakech is a symphony of melodic stories, from the call to prayer echoing through the city, to the hum of the bustling souks, to the gentle splashing of the fountains in the courtyard. The soothing trickle of water is a constant reminder of the hotel’s commitment to serenity and relaxation.

Touch

The spa at The Oberoi Marrakech is a haven of peace and rejuvenation. The treatments draw on centuries of Moroccan tradition, using locally sourced ingredients such as argan oil and rose water. The signature hammam experience is a must-try, as you are embraced in warm steam and treated to a series of massages and exfoliations that leave you feeling renewed and invigorated.

Taste

The food and beverage offerings are a culinary journey through the flavours of Morocco. The dishes are a perfect blend of traditional Moroccan cuisine and modern interpretations, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients taking centre stage. From the delicate, well-crafted pastries served at breakfast to the rich tagines and couscous served for dinner, every bite is a feast for the senses. Seriously, the croissants here are to die for.

Smell

The scent of spices and flowers is a constant presence in Marrakech. The souks are filled with the aroma of freshly ground spices, while the gardens of The Oberoi are dances of colours and fragrances. The hotel’s signature scent is a blend of oud, rose, and orange blossom, which reminds me of the Arab royals and their homes. Even the fragrance is by design, it carefully tells a story of opulence, taste, and culture.

As I look back at treasured moments at The Oberoi Marrakech, while on a flight back home to Qatar, I can’t help but feel a sense of gratitude and serenity. The experience was a sensory journey like no other. I was left feeling renewed, rejuvenated, and inspired. The architecture, spa, food and beverage, and the city of Marrakech, all converged to create an experience that was akin to the Mona Lisa, if I may say so, a masterpiece in the world of luxury travel. You leave with a sense of longing to return to this blissful place that puts you in a state of mind where you are amongst the Maharajah and the kings of the old world, where every sense is indulged and every moment is a celebration of life.
