Doja Cat is back with her first new song as lead artist of 2023. “Attention” is the first single to introduce her new era, and ostensibly, her next album. The single was written by Doja Cat, Y2K, and Rogét Chahayed. The latter two artists produced the cut as well. Check it out below.

Tanu Muino directed the new “Attention” music video, which was shot on in Los Angeles. Muino has directed videos for Harry Styles’ “As It Was,” Cardi B’s “Up,” Rosalía’s “Chicken Teriyaki,” Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me by Your Name),” Normani’s “Wild Side,” and more. In the “Attention” clip, Doja roams the streets of LA, occasionally dodging screaming fans and passers-by in grotesque fleshy masks.

Doja Cat’s last solo single was 2022’s “Vegas,” a track that appeared on the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s film Elvis. In a since-deleted tweet in May, she noted that her previous two albums, 2019’s Hot Pink and 2021’s Planet Her, “were cash-grabs and yall fell for it.”

Doja Cat had three songs on Pitchfork’s list of “The 100 Best Songs of 2021”: “Get Into It (Yuh),” her SZA collaboration “Kiss Me More,” and her feature on the Saweetie single “Best Friend.”
