Lil Uzi Vert Releasing New Album Pink Tape This Week

Lil Uzi Vert has announced a new album, the follow-up to 2020’s Eternal Atake. It’s titled Pink Tape, it’s 26 tracks long, and it’s due out this Friday (June 30) via Atlantic. Check out the album artwork and a trailer directed by Gibson Hazard below.

Since releasing Eternal Atake and its expansion, LUV vs. The World 2, the Philadelphia rapper has changed their pronouns, released an EP titled Red & White, and kept busy with several other collaborations. Last November Uzi shared the first single from Pink Tape, “Just Wanna Rock.” They performed in on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in March.

Uzi continued to stay occupied throughout 2021 and 2022, making more than 20 appearances on tracks by Tyler, the Creator, Yeat, Baby Keem, Pusha T, Gucci Mane, and more. More recently, the rapper again worked with Future and Don Toliver on two songs from the Metro Boomin-produced soundtrack to the new movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

In July 2021, Uzi’s ex-girlfriend Brittany Byrd alleged that they had assaulted her and threatened her with a firearm. Last February, Uzi pleaded no contest to one count of felony assault with a firearm and one count of misdemeanor injury. They were sentenced to three years of formal probation, one year of 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and treatment for mental health and substance abuse. Uzi must also pay restitution and comply with a 10-year criminal protective order.

Between full-length records, Lil Uzi Vert notably had a massive pink diamond installed in a piercing setting in their forehead in 2021. They removed the gem, which was reportedly worth $24 million, after it was torn out during a performance at Rolling Loud Miami that September, an act referenced in the animated sequence in the album’s trailer. It can be also seen in Uzi’s forehead in the artwork for Pink Tape.
