Looks were served.

With its on-the-court style, not to mention the chic spectator looks in the stands, tennis is fashion’s favourite sport. And, luckily enough for those of us who weren’t blessed with Serena Williams-like athletic abilities, tennis tournaments give us the opportunity to witness stellar courtside celebrity style moments — and the 2023 U.S. Open fashion is no exception.

Michelle Obama’s surprise appearance got the tournament going at an A-list pace when it comes to celebrity tennis fans. On the fashion front, and likely due to the current heatwave across most of the U.S. and Canada, summery staples such as midi-dresses, light colours and florals appear to be ruling the stands.

For what may be your last dose of sunny, sporty style until next summer, check out our round-up of the best celebrity U.S. Open fashion moments from this year’s tournament.

Elevated denim

You can never go wrong with straight-leg jeans and neutrals separates, which is exactly why Katie Holmes’ tennis style looks so timeless. The actress complimented her denim trousers and cream tank with a dark shoulder bag, matching sunglasses and trendy ballet flats. But, what really makes the outfit is her carefully knotted Miu Miu sweater that she threw over her shoulders for a quiet luxury-goes-to-tennis look.

Sleek suiting

Emma Watson attended a match in a tailored daytime pantsuit for a vibe that was polished but still easygoing. She completed the black and white look with a black tank top, skinny belt, small handbag and open-toe, flat sandals.

Queen Latifah was all smiles to take in some tennis, and her outfit complemented her vibe. The icon paired a Jimi Hendrix graphic tee with a bright orange cargo skirt and bold accessories for a standout look.

A rare matching moment

In a rare move for the Biebers, who are well-known for their apparent aversion to complementing each other’s outfits, this celeb couple looked very much in sync in matching oversized leather jackets. Their individual styles still shone through as they paired their looks with their own signature accessories, of course.

Keeping it casual

Chloë Grace Moretz (right) looked laidback in a navy blue baby tee with white trim which she accessorized with black cat-eye sunglasses.

All black everything

Women’s rights activist and social justice legend Gloria Steinem (!) attended the tournament in a sophisticated all-black outfit. Though she kept it simple with her black pants and top, Steinem dressed up the look with an statement gold belt that tied the look together.

Green floral

Who said florals were just for spring? Not Anna Wintour, that’s for sure. The Vogue editor and well-known tennis fan sported a collared midi-dress covered in a bright green floral print. Wintour completed the botanic moment with a cream-coloured skinny belt, matching boots, an off-white clutch and a blue jewelled necklace.

All-white everything

You can never go wrong with a crisp white outfit for a tennis match and country star Maren Morris proved just that with her chic outfit. The singer opted for a classic white tank dress with a square neckline and completed the look with matching white accessories, including a shoulder bag and thong sandals.
