Warning: This article contains spoilers from Loki season two.

The second season of Loki takes the concept of the multiverse to a whole new level and mirrors one of the most significant moments in the MCU mythology, 11 years after the release of The Avengers, the film that changed it all.

Despite originally being introduced as a villain, Loki is turning out to be one of the most relevant characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and arguably one of its main heroes. In the first season of his solo show, the God of Mischief was the first to notice the chaos that was about to be unleashed in the multiverse, being one of the first MCU characters to come face to face with He Who Remains aka Kang.

So, it is not a surprise that this new season of the show has even more importance for the future of the franchise, but also delivers a full-circle narrative for the titular character. In episode five of Loki Season 2, the God of Mischief takes a 180-degree turn in his story. In the first Avengers movie, the world’s mightiest heroes come together to fight Thor’s half-brother himself, and now it is Loki who forms his own team in order to save the whole multiverse in an incredible turn of events.

Throughout his long run in the MCU, Loki has been an extremely lonely character, mainly because his origins have always made him feel out of place and an outcast. Growing up in the shadow of the God of Thunder, Loki never felt up to the task and tried to demonstrate his potential in the worst possible ways.

But when he began to collaborate with the TVA and discovered a new world where the rules of the reality in which he grew up do not apply, his story began to change. However, this narrative reached its peak in the most recent episode of the show’s second season, when Loki finally admitted that loneliness was not a choice, but rather a curse.

After the explosive ending of the first installment of Loki, in the new season the God of Mischief must form his own team to recover the TVA and continue the fight to restore order in the multiverse and the Sacred Timeline. To do this, Loki travels through different realities and recruits OB, Casey, B-15, Sylvie, and Mobius to help him.

But the most interesting thing is to see how his new companions lived a life similar to his, alone and feeling miserable. OB was an unsuccessful science fiction author, Casey was a sad prisoner, Mobius was a father who felt like a failure, while Sylvie was trapped in a mediocre life. B-15 seems to be the only one whose life wasn’t a disaster. Now, feeling accompanied and with a purpose, it seems that the lives of each of them and especially Loki’s has finally taken a positive turn.
