Missy Elliott closed out the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Friday night, accepting her award after performing a medley that included “Get Ur Freak On,” “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” “Work It,” “Pass That Dutch,” and “Lose Control.” A few dozen dancers clad in gold joined her during the spectacle, which Elliott later revealed was her first performance ever viewed live by her mother. Watch it below.
Queen Latifah inducted the Virginia-born rapper into the Rock Hall, which Elliott earned on her first year of eligibility, making her the first-ever female rapper to be inducted. She gave an emotional speech after accepting the award onstage. The two shared the stage together earlier this year as part of a sprawling 50th anniversary tribute to hip-hop at the Grammys. Last year, Elliott was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a street named for her in her home town of Portsmouth, Virginia.
