J. Cole meant it when he titled his new mixtape Might Delete Later. The rapper has removed the song â7 Minute Drill,â his now infamous diss track about Kendrick Lamar, from streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal. It originally served as the mixtapeâs closing number.
Last week, Cole headlined his annual Dreamville Festival. He took time during his set to explain that he felt conflicted about making and releasing â7 Minute Drill,â going on to call it âthe lamest shit I ever did in my fucking life.â During his speech, Cole refered to Lamarâs âLike Thatââthe song that ignited the artistsâ recent feudâas a âbazookaâ and he wanted â7 Minute Drillâ to be competitive and âfriendly.â Instead, Cole said, his song âdonât sit right with my spirit.â
Coleâs most recent full-length album, The Off-Season, arrived back in 2021. Since then, he has released the aforementioned mixtape Might Delete Later as well as his DJ Drama and Dreamville collab D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape. Cole has also hopped on songs with Drake, Lil Yachty, J-Hope, Smino, Lil Durk, and Bia, among others.
