Dylan “DC” McMullan, an 8th-grade football standout, recently made the decision to stay home and play for his local high school, Ann Arbor Huron. Despite being heavily sought after by bigger programs, DC’s decision reflects his desire to be part of a program that prioritizes his development and fosters his ambitions for the future.
DC’s football journey began at the age of 6 and he quickly became a household name in Ypsilanti, following in the footsteps of his older brother. DC’s love for the game flourished under the guidance of his father, Coach Shane McMullan, alongside committed mentors like DeMarcus Ford and Anthony Perry from the Ypsilanti Junior Braves Youth Football Team, as well as Pete McDonald and Shawn Raimey from Ohio.
Recognizing the need for a new challenge to prevent complacency, Driven by a dream to excel in High School, college and one day the NFL, DC’s father, Coach Shane, orchestrated a strategic move to Farmington Hills to provide his son with elite training opportunities. Raised with a football in hand, DC’s dedication to the sport led him to the renowned Southfield Falcons, coached by JT Taylor. Despite being accustomed to playing both offense and defense, DC embraced his role on the Falcons’ defense, grateful for Coach JT’s belief in his abilities. He praises coach Taylor for helping him take his game to the next level.rDC honed his skills and embraced the challenges of competition, emerging as a formidable defensive back.
Despite offers from distant schools, DC’s decision to play for Ann Arbor Huron reflects his commitment to personal growth and community impact. With Head Coach Jamontae Love spearheading a transformative culture at Huron, DC is poised to make significant contributions on and off the field.
