LA Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani a World Series doubt after dislocating shoulder | US News

LA Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani partially dislocated his left shoulder during Saturday’s Game 2 of the World Series against the New York Yankees.

The Japanese baseballer hurt himself when he tried to steal second base in the seventh inning.

He is now a doubt for Monday’s Game 3 in New York.

Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani “had a little left shoulder subluxation” and tests would be carried out.

“We’ll know more in the next couple of days.

“The strength was great. The range of motion good, so we’re encouraged.

“But obviously I can’t speculate because we don’t get the scans yet. So, once we have the scans, we’ll know more.”

Ohtani clutched his left forearm after being tagged by shortstop Anthony Volpe for the final out in the inning on a feetfirst slide.

He laid near the bag for a couple minutes before being tended to by trainers and leaving the field.

The Dodgers held on for a 4-2 victory and lead the Series 2-0.

Back in April, Ohtani’s interpreter was accused of stealing more than $16m (£12.75m) from the Dodgers star to cover gambling debts.

Ippei Mizuhara has been charged with bank fraud after allegedly stealing the funds from an account of Ohtani that he helped to set up.

Ohtani is considered a victim and is not accused of any wrongdoing.

Last year the 30-year-old signed a record-breaking $700m (£557m) deal with the LA Dodgers.
