Somehow, it’s been almost a year since Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 8 left us completely shocked and devastated, bringing to an end another complex and beautifully crafted television season.
Since its debut in 2022, Interview with the Vampire has cemented itself as one of the best series on all of television, and fans are waiting with bated breath for the series to return for what may be its boldest season yet.
But when will the series return? And what will it be about? We’ve got you covered here with everything we know about the season of Lestat.

What Happened at the End of Interview with the Vampire Season 2?
If you need a quick reminder about Interview with the Vampire Season 2, it follows Louis de Pointe du Lac and Claudia as they leave New Orleans after Lestat de Lioncourt’s “death” and settle in 1940s Paris.
While Claudia joins the local coven, Louis falls into a passionate relationship with Armand. In the present day, Louis and Armand team up to recount this period to Daniel Molloy.
The season is marked by betrayal and distressing events, including the death of Claudia and the re-emergence of Lestat.
It concludes with a bloody Paris showdown. Present-day Louis learns that the life he built with Armand was a lie.

Louis and Lestat’s New Orleans reunion was as romantic as it was depressing, as the two vampires grappled with a shared loss in Claudia and the secrets that bound them together and forced them apart for so many years.
The season ended with a vampire, Daniel, talking to Louis, who was back in Dubai and reaching out to other vampires who were none too pleased with his decision to tell all to Daniel, whose book was now released in the wild.
It was a bittersweet ending to a powerful season, but aside from seeing Louis and Daniel, the whereabouts of Armand and Lestat remained unknown.
What Will Interview with the Vampire Season 3 Be About?

Like past seasons, AMC is keeping much of what’s to come under wraps, though we do know that this season will focus on Lestat.
In particular, the vampire rockstar Lestat, as seen in a first look from last spring.
There’s a lot to unpack in the teaser, which has a high-maintenance Lestat sitting down for an on-camera interview with none other than Daniel Malloy himself.
Lestat has all the bravado of a seasoned rockstar, complete with snarky comebacks and everything else that makes Lestat him.
But most interesting is the music that punctuates the end of the clip and the various scenes of Lestat in front of the camera, wearing multiple outfits and displaying bloody fingers.
Which Book Will This Season Be Based Upon?

The third season will adapt the second book in Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles series, The Vampire Lestat.
It’s safe to assume, as in past seasons, that the show will take liberties and won’t be a verbatim telling of the book, though it will undoubtedly touch on many of the themes and events from the book.
The book allows Lestat to have his say about Daniel’s book, as well as delve into his life as a full-fledged rock star. It also delves into his past, allowing readers to gain a deeper insight into Lestat’s connection to his vampire nature.
The series has been mainly from Louis’s point of view up to this point, so it will be quite a departure to see things through Lestat’s eyes.
The book introduces key figures in Lestat’s story, including his mother, Gabrielle, and his lover, Nicolas de Lefent, as well as his maker, Magnus, while also providing greater insight into his past with Armand.

The new season will cover all of these plot points, as the AMC press release at the time of the season 3 renewal stated, “In Season 3, resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy bestseller “Interview With The Vampire,” the Vampire Lestat sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can — by starting a band and going on tour.Â
“Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept. They join Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed, and others we can’t tell you about yet on a sexy pilgrimage across space, time, and trauma. No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified.”
Lestat has a complicated past, as the third season will offer audiences a different perspective on the vampire they’ve come to know through Louis’s musings.
Which Cast Members Will Return For Season 3?

The series will introduce new characters and actors over time. But we do know the following will return for the new season.
Jacob Anderson – Louis de Pointe du Lac
Sam Reid – Lestat de Lioncourt
Eric Bogosian – Daniel Malloy
Assad Zaman – Armand
When Will Season 3 Return?

Production on the season began in the summer of 2025, and the show has been confirmed to return in 2026; however, the exact return date is unknown.
Interview with the Vampire Season 1 premiered in October of 2022, while the second season premiered in May of 2024.
We could potentially receive another spring 2026 premiere date, or AMC may opt to hold the series until the fall of 2026 to compete against returning broadcast and cable series.
Since its debut, the series has only grown in popularity, and it will undoubtedly have an audience regardless of when AMC releases it.
How Many Episodes Will Season 3 Have?

It’s unclear how many episodes the new season will have, but considering the second season had eight installments total, it’s a safe bet to assume the same will go for the third effort.
Six to eight episodes is the standard for cable and streaming services these days. Even after many years, we’re still adjusting to such short episode counts.
But Interview with the Vampire has always maximized every single hour it’s given and has delivered full seasons that are balanced and feel complete.
There’s no reason that should change in season 3.
Is There a Trailer?

Unfortunately, since production has just begun, a trailer for the full season is not yet available.
However, there is the first look above, as well as a lyric video for Lestat’s feature song, “Long Face.”
It’s a haunting little melody and a good indication of the kind of music we should expect to hear.
As production continues, additional teasers may drop, and we will keep you updated if and when that happens.
