9-1-1 Season 9 is set to make a crash landing on a screen near you when it premieres in a few short weeks!
Ignore the corny joke, but get into the latest 9-1-1 opening emergency, which is coming to you all the way from outer space.
We’ve had earthquakes, tsunamis, zoo animals on the loose, cruise ship disasters, beenados, and planes with holes in them making emergency landings on freeways. But those may all seem relatively normal in comparison to what’s to come.

If there’s one show that has fully adopted the ‘go big or go home’ moniker, it’s 9-1-1.
Their creativity and ability to think outside the box have made them appointment television over the years, as audiences often see insane promotional campaigns and say to themselves, ‘HOW is Angela Bassett going to land that plane?’
While it may take a few episodes to get into the more personal storylines that will envelop a season, the opening disasters are usually well-crafted and exciting for longtime fans.
It’s always a good opportunity to see the whole team working together in various ways, and even teaming up in new pairs to help save the day.

And 9-1-1 Season 9‘s opening hours will look different, however, as they’ll seemingly be without Bobby Nash for the first time.
Bobby was ALWAYS a significant part of these emergencies, not only just as the captain of the 118, but during their version of the Poisedon Adventure, Bobby was right in the thick of things as he and Athena raced to save various people, as well as themselves, from drowning in the middle of the ocean.
It’s hard to fathom the 118 or Athena battling falling rocks from space, hurdling towards Los Angeles, where all the bad things happen, apparently, and Bobby not being there to lend a hand or lead the way.
But alas, I guess we’re heading into this new era, and with it comes meteor showers.

Now, after the beenado fake out last season, what we’re assuming is a meteor shower falling to earth in all of the early promotions could be hiding an even bigger emergency that will come after the rocks make landfall.
However, that also sounds oddly familiar to 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 9, in which the 118 dealt with the fallout from a meteor shower.
Could the 9-1-1 be recycling old storylines? Or is this a massive misdirection?
My money is on misdirection, but for what?

A massive meteor show that has all of Los Angeles on high panic alert could distract everyone from some other disaster being set into motion.
Or the city may avoid major calamity, but a meteorite causes a massive metro rail derailment, or it may hit Athena’s precinct, causing mass chaos on the streets and within the building.
Nothing is ever straightforward on 9-1-1, so it would be silly to assume this meteor shower will be the only thing happening within the first few hours.
The series prides itself on delivering shocking moments, and that’s how the series has kept us around all these years.
Maybe it’ll be a meteorite or something even wilder that sets Los Angeles ablaze. We should know by now to expect the unexpected and just vibe with whatever they throw at us next.

Whatever comes crashing down, I know we’ll all be there, gasping, tweeting, and holding our breath until the very last alarm goes off.
