A night dedicated to legacy, talent, and enduring contributions to the arts will take center stage as TV host Mickey Burns and acclaimed singer Al Lambert present the 2nd Annual Vito Picone Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts on Tuesday, May 12th.
The event will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Staten Island, with doors opening at 6:00 PM. A highly anticipated evening, organizers encourage early reservations as the event is expected to sell out. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Father Capodanno Catholic Academy Scholarship Fund.
Founded in 2025, the award honors the legacy of Vito Picone, the legendary lead singer of The Elegants, whose timeless hit “Little Star” topped the charts and remains a defining piece of American music history. Beyond music, Picone also left his mark as an actor, appearing in iconic productions including Goodfellas, Analyze This, and The Sopranos.

This year’s distinguished honorees reflect a lifetime of excellence across multiple facets of the performing arts:
- Singing legend Johnny Maestro
- Renowned radio personality Joe Causi
- Actor and lighting designer Wayne Miller
“All of this year’s recipients embody the very spirit of the award,” said Al Lambert. “They have excelled in the performing arts for decades, inspiring and positively impacting countless lives. The Vito Picone Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts lives on.”
Mickey Burns added, “It is our goal to continue this proud tradition of honoring the best among us in the performing arts for years to come.”
The evening promises to be a celebration not only of individual achievement, but of the enduring power of music, performance, and storytelling to unite generations.
