Foundation Sticks Are Summer’s Easiest Beauty Hack

According to experts, the biggest mistake made with foundation sticks is applying too much product at once. Instead, start with a light layer and build from there.

For makeup artist-level application, follow this technique: start with a moisturized base using a thin layer of primer or SPF. Once dried down, swipe or dot the stick directly where you want the most coverage, immediately blending with a damp beauty sponge, dense face brush or simply your fingers while the product is still warm and movable.

If the first layer isn’t enough, start building with more swipes focusing on problem areas and blemishes. If you opt for a particularly juicy formula (great for dry skin) you may want to finish with setting powder, but set strategically.

Depending on your complexion, oily skin might apply translucent powder thickly around the eyes and T-zone for a matte finish, while dry skin may need just a light sprinkle of setting powder to lock the foundation in place.
