Linda Perhacs has been found safely after her friends and manager launched a public effort to locate her this week. Her manager, Laurel Stearns, said in a statement to Rolling Stone, “We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped amplify this effort by sharing information, reaching out with support, and expressing genuine care for Linda’s well-being.” A post on Perhacs’ Instagram page added that she was in a new care facility.
Perhacs had been discharged from a long-term care facility late last year, under the supervision of her caregivers. After several months without contact, Stearns told Pitchfork she reported Perhacs missing in early June. However, authorities could not relay information to those without legal ties to the singer-songwriter. This Tuesday, July 28, Stearns and several of Perhacs’ friends and collaborators, including Julia Holter, posted on social media with the hopes of locating her.
Stearns’ new statement continued, “We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped amplify this effort by sharing information, reaching out with support, and expressing genuine care for Linda’s well-being. The overwhelming response from fans, fellow musicians, journalists, and the broader creative community has been a powerful reminder of the profound impact of Linda’s music. We are especially grateful to the authorities for their assistance and to all those who worked behind the scenes to help bring clarity to this situation.”
She asked that Linda’s privacy be respected “as those close to her determine the best path forward,” adding, “We hope this moment allows for compassion, healing, and continued support for an artist whose work has touched so many lives.”
