De’Mario “Raz B” Thornton and Mona Li Thornton are navigating a heartbreaking loss.
The B2K singer and his wife shared the death of their son Astro Monte Thornton just three months after welcoming him into the world.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Astro Monte Thornton, beloved son of Mona and De’Mario ‘Raz B’ Thornton of the R&B supergroup B2K,” the couple’s spokesperson David Robinson told USA Today in a statement Sept. 10. “The family asks for privacy as they navigate this difficult time. They truly appreciate your love and support.”
His cause of death is not known at this time.
Raz B and Mona—who also share son Versai Carter Thornton, 23 months—announced that they were expecting another child back in May.
“I always wanted to take a real family picture with my own family… and finally, God made a way,” the “Bump Bump Bump” singer captioned a May 18 photo shared to Instagram of himself posing with Versai, a visibly pregnant Mona, and her daughter from a previous relationship. “Right now we’re at the hospital getting ready to welcome our newest addition, Astro, another baby boy to the Thornton family.”
