Dominique Jackson-Executive Produced Documentary ‘Call Me Micky’ Sets Teaneck International Film Festival Screening Following Two Awards

Andrew Rasmussen directs the 22-minute documentary produced by New York-based CARDINAL, following the remarkable life of transgender entrepreneur Micky Angelo Petrillo.

NEW YORK — November 2026 — Call Me Micky, the award-winning documentary directed by Andrew Rasmussen and executive produced by POSE star Dominique Jackson, has been selected for the 21st Annual Teaneck International Film Festival, where it will screen November 7, 2026.

Produced by New York City-based creative production company CARDINAL, the 22-minute film follows Micky Angelo Petrillo, a New Jersey entrepreneur and author who began living openly as a transgender man at age 59.

The documentary has received two festival honors, winning Best Documentary at the New York Transgender Film Festival and the Spirit of Pride Award at the Susquehanna LGBTQ Film Festival.

Rather than centering exclusively on the process of gender transition, Call Me Micky explores Petrillo’s life afterward, documenting his growing confidence, personal relationships, creative pursuits and unexpected adventures.

Rasmussen’s documentary captures Petrillo’s charismatic personality through candid conversations, Pride events, open mic performances and everyday experiences, creating an intimate portrait that balances humor with emotional depth.

Jackson, who gained international recognition for her portrayal of Elektra Evangelista on FX’s POSE, serves as executive producer and appears on camera alongside Petrillo.

The actress and advocate has remained active in projects amplifying transgender stories, including executive producing the documentary I’m Your Venus, which premiered at the Tribeca Festival.

Call Me Micky adds to a growing body of independent nonfiction filmmaking examining LGBTQ+ identity through personal storytelling.

Petrillo, raised in Ridgefield and currently residing in Fort Lee, New Jersey, operated Baskets-N-Beyond in Oradell for more than three decades before becoming the subject of the film.

He also released his memoir, Walking the Earth: First as a Woman, Then a Man, in 2026.

The Teaneck International Film Festival, presented as a project of The Puffin Foundation, Ltd., will hold its 21st edition November 5–12, continuing its longstanding focus on socially relevant cinema under the theme “Activism: Making Change.”

Petrillo, Jackson and Rasmussen are among the announced festival guests.

The November 7 screening provides another opportunity for the documentary to reach audiences as it continues its festival run.
