SINGER-SONGWRITER LINDA MARKS RELEASES EPIC PANDEMIC ALBUM “MONUMENTS OF LOVE” AT TRIPLE ALBUM RELEASE SHOW AT THE BURREN ON 8/1/21

The pandemic context we have lived in for more than 15 months could have stopped heart-centered singer-songwriter Linda Marks in her tracks. Her two 2020 albums, The Piano and Songs At The Heart Of Life were near completion when the studio shut down in March 2020. “Unprecedented circumstances became a creative hotbed for songwriting,” says Marks. And necessity IS the mother of invention as virtual recording and album production techniques allowed albums to be completed.

On August 1 at 7 pm Marks’ epic pandemic album, Monuments Of Love, filled with songs written during the first year of COVID-19 will be featured in an exciting Triple Album Release show at the Burren in Somerville, MA. Songs from her TWO 2020 albums will also color the set list. This is a live show with limited seating. Tickets

Known for her heart-to-heart style of songwriting, as the pandemic unfolded, Marks asked herself, “what can we create during a pandemic?” The result was the title song, “Monuments Of Love.” Like monuments, each song marks the emotional landscape many of us traversed with the threat of illness and loss of loved ones, isolation, social unrest, appreciating family and pets, and living with uncertainty. Styles range from folk to gospel to latin jazz to cabaret/Broadway. “All One Human Race” is an anthem for the human race and a prayer to end gun violence. “Kindness” invites a quality needed now more than ever. “Watch Over Me” is a pandemic spiritual. “Is It Ever Too Soon To Say I Love You” asks a question close to our hearts during COVID19. “Noah Corgi Is The Boy From Ipanema” offers a fun Latin jazz diversion. “Chapter 2020” wonders when we will turn the page on pandemic living. “My Father’s Boots” and “Broken Home” reflect on the family journey. Closing song “Prayers” has become a pandemic anthem during Marks’ livestream concerts, written when dear friend Bob DiCicco went into the ICU and onto a ventilator with severe COVID-19. He made it through, a true COVID-19 hero.

Marks’ arrangements come to life with Jackie Damsky on violin, Valerie Thompson on cello, Andy Daigle on banjo and harmonica, Judy Daigle on mandolin, Steve Latanision on pedal steel, Craig Akin on bass, Mark Bishop Evans on guitar and vocal harmony, Joe Sabourin on guitar, and Dave Birkin on saxophone.
