A mural in Kentucky of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd has been defaced, officials have said.

The “Say Their Names” artwork was unveiled in Louisville last summer and depicts black people, including Ms Taylor and Mr Floyd, who have died at the hands of law enforcement.

Officials in Kentucky said the mural was found on Monday with light blue paint over it.

Dwight Mitchell, the spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department, said officers are “collecting evidence and canvassing the neighbourhood for any witnesses.”

One of the artists who helped create the mural, Braylyn Resko Stewart, said he was in “disbelief” when the building’s owner sent him a photo of the damage.

He said the artwork would be restored.

The incident follows damage from earlier this month when another mural of Ms Taylor was defaced in the same city.

A $2,500 (£1,806) reward has been offered for information in that case.

Ms Taylor was an emergency medical worker who was fatally shot by Louisville police in her apartment during a no-knock search warrant in 13 March, after her boyfriend fired a shot at officers.
