Asia welcomes two new catamarans into its waters: The Lagoon 55 and Sixty 5. These new yachts were sold through Simpson Marine, the region’s largest dealership.
Slated to arrive in Hong Kong in August, the Lagoon Sixty 5 is fitted with a carbon-fibre boom and carbon mast — perfect for those seeking performance. The sail measures 330sqm with mainsail and genoa.
The Sixty 5 completes the Lagoon’s series of yachts, where it joins the flagship Seventy 7, Sixty 7 and Seventy 8. With its naval architecture by VPLP, exterior design by Patrick le Quément and interior design by Nauta Design, the Sixty 5 is as luxurious as its predecessor, the 620 — a popular model that swept Asia off its feet.
Joining its sister yacht is the Lagoon 55, which was unveiled in a private showcase in Bordeaux, held in March. Since the exhibition of the new launch, the catamaran has been sold into China and will reach its owners in November, where it will “explore the region’s spectacular cruising waters”, said the owner — for now, the four-cabin 55 will dock in Zhuhai.
The aft cockpit on the Lagoon 55 is a particularly notable feature. Inspired by motor yachts, it’s designed to mimic “an open terrace on the sea ” while the spacious sugarscoops allow for guests to hang comfortably.
