Lies (Mike and Nate Kinsella) Announce Debut Album, Share Video for New Song: Watch

“Resurrection” is the latest single from their forthcoming self-titled LP

Lies, the new band from Mike and Nate Kinsella, has announced its debut self-titled album with a new song called “Resurrection.” It’s due out March 31 via Polyvinyl. They’re also set to play a short stint of tour dates on the East Coast in April. Check out the album art, the full list of tour dates, and the video for “Resurrection” below.

Of the new video, Nate Kinsella said in a statement:

“‘Resurrection’ is a celebration song about reawakening a part of the self that has been hidden away in hibernation. We used mirrors and some camera angle trickery to superimpose our heads onto the bodies of a couple of professional dancers, whose movements illustrate a kind of unselfconscious joy and freedom—feelings that maybe we have a hard time accessing, or tapping into. I hope the video transmits the sense of fun and liberation that we envisioned (and experienced!) when making it.”

The cousins—who play together in the re-formed American Footballannounced their new band last May with two songs: “Blemishes” and “Echoes.” In 2020, Mike Kinsella released The Avalanche, his 10th album as Owen, following it up with a remix version of the LP in 2021.

Watch Mike and Nate Kinsella rate Greta Van Fleet, Bradley Cooper, and Celebrity ASMR on Pitchfork’s “Over/Under” series.
