Hollywood star Paul Rudd joined Wrexham fans in the pub ahead of their crucial National League game on Saturday.

The Ant-Man actor, 52, was spotted drinking beer and singing songs with supporters at the Turf pub, next to the town’s Racecourse Ground ahead of the club’s clash with Boreham Wood.

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, who co-owns the club with fellow actor Rob McElhenney, revealed how he was “terribly nervous” as he arrived to watch Wrexham’s bid to secure three points and a promotion from the National League.

Supporter Paul Novelli, who travelled from the US state of Kentucky for his fourth trip to Wrexham, took a selfie with Rudd and another fan, Sandy, from Canada.

Mr Novielli described Rudd as “super nice” after he happily posed for pictures.

“(I) just said hi, can you take a picture, he said yeah… I asked if he’s having a good time and he said ‘amazing’,” the 37-year-old said.

The fan, who runs a podcast called Up The Town dedicated to Wrexham, said Rudd joined in with chants including Super Paul Mullin and Allez Allez Allez at the pub.

He sat with the owner of the pub, Wayne Jones, and did some “sing songs”, Mr Novielli added.

“(He) engaged with a lot of people, took pictures – he was super nice.”

Delighted fans shared their selfies on social media, with one posting “thanks for the pic Paul Rudd #OnlyinWrexham”.

Another wrote “Normal day in Wrexham please” along with a picture with of Rudd holding a pint.

The RobRyanRed Wrexham AFC Podcast tweeted footage of Rudd greeting supporters, wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap.

One fan posted on Instagram: “Ant-Man meets Deadpool” with a picture showing a smiling Rudd holding a pint aloft.

Victory would secure promotion to League Two for the Welsh club, who have attracted worldwide attention since their takeover by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
