The parents of a teenage school shooting suspect who disappeared after they were charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter have pleaded not guilty.

At an arraignment hearing, the bail bond for each was set at $500,000.

They were also told they could each face up to 15 years behind bars.

James and Jennifer Crumbley went missing hours after the charges were announced and were later found in a commercial building where they “appeared to be hiding”.

A later statement from the couple’s lawyers denied they were on the run and claimed they were returning to the area after leaving “for their own safety” on the night of the shooting.

Mr and Mrs Crumbley are accused of buying their 15-year-old son Ethan a handgun used in the shooting on Tuesday as well as ignoring warning signs on the day of the shooting.
