Wendy Stuart will be hosting TriVersity Talk! this Wednesday at 7 PM ET with featured guests Patrick Owens and Esther McGowan.

TriVersity Talk! is a weekly web series with featured guests discussing their lives, activism and pressing issues in the LGBTQ Community. With TriVersity Talk!, the goal is to laugh and learn.

TriVersity Talk! Is part of TriVersity’s ICARE Initiative. ICARE stands for Increasing Community Awareness through Relevant Education. ICARE Programs are generously funded by The Greater Pike Community Foundation.

Patrick (“Pat”) Owens is the Executive Director of The New York Choral Society, New York’s premier symphonic chorus.  His lifelong passion for the transformative power of the arts and a commitment to innovation are hallmarks of his leadership as he continues to  expand performance opportunities for the chorus including the launch of Our Voices, its highly successful series of digital performances of choral works co-created with contemporary artists, activists, choreographers, and filmmakers that feature music by a number of noted African American and female composers and arrangers, championing equity and inclusion for both the arts community and its patrons.

From 2012- 2022, Pat served on the Board of Directors of Visual AIDS, including as its board president for 2 terms. During he that time he worked closely with staff and board to raise the visibility of Visual AIDS as it expanded its programming and developed new partnerships with museums, foundations, corporations, advocacy and arts organizations, and donors.

Pat has developed a wide range of arts projects and commercial gallery programs, curated numerous exhibitions, and has collaborated with a wide range of artists across a variety of media. As co-director of Lipton Owens Gallery, Patrick focused on developing numerous curatorial projects and introduced emerging and mid-career artists to audiences throughout the U.S. He has  contributed to several artist monographs and exhibition catalogues. He currently represents  the estate of noted  artist and AIDS activist Hunter Reynolds.

His work as a gallerist, curator, volunteer, and arts leader has deepened his appreciation of the important role of LGBTQ voices as essential catalysts of empowerment and change.  Last month, with his husband Gary, he announced the funding of the first of its kind scholarship at Ohio State  for undergraduate students who demonstrate a commitment  to the visibility and sustainability of LGBTQ community organizations.

Esther McGowan is the Executive Director of Visual AIDS, and was Associate Director from 2012 to 2017. She has worked as a fundraiser, administrator, and grantmaker with a variety of arts organizations over three decades, including the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Watermill Center, Arts International, Art Matters, Center for Fiction, Alliance for the Arts, Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and Whitney Museum of American Art.
