A woman who caused controversy by pretending to be black has been fired from her teaching job for having an OnlyFans account.

Rachel Dolezal quit as president of a local civil rights group in 2015 after it was revealed both her parents were white and had European ancestry.

At the time, she said she had considered herself black since she was five.

Her light brown complexion and dark curly hair was in stark contrast to a photo of her as a child in which she had fair skin, freckles and straight blonde hair.

She later changed her name to Nkechi Diallo, and began posting on OnlyFans – a site mostly used to share adult images with subscribers – in late 2021.

The following year, leaked photos of her posing in lingerie images made headlines after circulating online.

‘Intimate look’

Her OnlyFans bio describes her page as a place “where I post creative content and give fans a more intimate look into my life” – and she still uses the name Rachel Dolezal to promote it.

However, her employer in Arizona, where she worked as an afterschool instructor and substitute teacher, only became aware of her online side gig this week.

A spokesperson for Catalina Foothills Unified School District told Sky’s US partner NBC News it was against its social media policy.

The policy states staff should not do anything online that is “unprofessional” or would “significantly and adversely impact [their] work-related reputation”.

In 2018, Dolezal was also charged with welfare fraud.

She was accused of failing to declare income from her book, In Full Color: Finding My Place in a Black and White World, to illegally get more than $8,000 (£6,358) in food assistance.
