Prime Video has steadily emerged as one of the most exciting platforms in the streaming world, continually adding thrilling TV and film titles to its ever-growing catalog. Not only does it feature popular titles in its growing library, but Prime Video also produces dynamic originals, such as the upcoming action movie The Pickup and the romantic drama The Map That Leads To You. With that in mind, let’s take a look at all the exciting options viewers will be able to pick from on Prime Video in August.
‘The Addams Family 2’
Stream on August 1
Those looking to embrace spooky season a little bit earlier this year can do so by enjoying the animated supernatural comedy The Addams Family 2, which serves as a sequel to the 2019 box office hit and follows the creepy and kooky clan as a distraught Gomez (Oscar Isaac) and Morticia (Charlize Theron) set out to bond with their ever-growing children Wednesday (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Pugsley (Javon Walton) by taking the whole macabre-loving family on a cross-country vacation in a haunted camper.
With the additional voice talents of stars like Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, Snoop Dogg, and Bill Hader, The Addams Family 2 chronicles the many misadventures the iconic family experiences while on the open road, as they cross paths with the extremely hairy Cousin Itt, a mysterious scientist named Cyrus Strange, and some peculiar human-animal hybrids. Though the sequel failed to impress most critics, many fans of the series enjoyed the film’s quirky and silly humor. They felt it was made specifically to entertain children (its target audience), with viewers awarding it a solid B CinemaScore. Stream The Addams Family 2 on August 1.

Directed by Tim Story (Barbershop, Ride Along) and produced by frequent Murphy collaborator John Davis (Daddy Day Care, Dolemite Is My Name), the comedy follows the reluctant duo as the seasoned, no-nonsense Russell and the wild, carefree rookie Travis set aside their differences as they attempt to survive a day full of sidesplitting chaos and peril. The Pickup also features Eva Longoria and Marshawn Lynch. It comes on the heels of Murphy signing a three-film deal with Amazon Studios in which he will also develop original projects for the streaming giant. The Pickup is available to stream on August 6.

‘Flight Risk’
Stream on August 14
After years of playing protagonists who courageously save the day, Mark Wahlberg returned to his villainous roots when he headlined the action thriller Flight Risk, in which he portrays a hitman disguised as a pilot who sets out to permanently silence a mob accountant-turned-informant (Topher Grace) while he’s aboard his transfer flight, with the dangerous killer going toe-to-toe with a determined Deputy U.S. Marshal (Michelle Dockery).
The taut, pulse-pounding flick is full of exhilarating action sequences and fast-paced entertainment, and audiences will be on the edge of their seats as Dockery and Grace square off against the demented hitman thousands of feet up in the sky over the Alaskan wilderness. Mel Gibson directed the high-octane thriller, and even though you know exactly what you’re in store for during its hour-and-a-half runtime, Flight Risk is nonetheless a fun and breezy viewing experience that action lovers will thoroughly enjoy. It can be streamed on August 14.
