Sandra Bullock felt the gravity of her ex-husband Jesse James‘ cheating scandal.
The Oscar winner detailed the fallout from her 2010 breakup with the West Coast Choppers founder after he admitted to infidelity during their four-year marriage, describing the chapter as a “really dark time in my life.”
“I was raising and protecting a little smurf while I was trying to grieve,” Bullock—who had adopted son Louis in late 2009, months before several women publicly spoke out about their affairs with James—told pal Jennifer Aniston in an Interview article published Sept. 8, “trying to get out of it.”
That’s why the 62-year-old considers 2013’s Gravity to be “the one film that was the most meaningful to me.”
“Because it was paralleling where I was,” explained Bullock, who played an astronaut struck in space in the Academy Award-winning movie. “Being locked in a box by myself with no one to talk to for nine hours a day, you do a lot of thinking.”
