YFN Lucci Agrees to Plea Deal in Atlanta RICO Case

In January 2021, YFN Lucci was charged with murder and accused of killing a 28-year-old man named James Adams in Atlanta. A few months later, he the murder charge became part of a vast indictment that targeted alleged Bloods gang members. The Atlanta rapper has now reached a deal with prosecutors and agreed to plead guilty to one count of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, The Associated Press reports.

YFN Lucci’s lawyers have said that the murder charge was among 12 counts in the indictment that were dismissed with the plea agreement. The attorneys (Drew Findling, Gabe Banks, and Marissa H. Goldberg) wrote in an email to Pitchfork:

After three years of pretrial litigation, more than two weeks of jury selection and three years of incarceration waiting for his jury trial, today, the prosecution finally relented and dismissed the murder and RICO charges against Rayshawn Bennett [aka YFN Lucci]. After the dismissal of 12 of the 13 counts against him, Mr. Bennett entered a plea to one gang related count. As he has maintained for three years now, Mr. Bennett will NOT cooperate in any other case. By entering into this resolution, he will be eligible for parole in as early as four months from now. The prosecution has also agreed that he should be released early on parole and this will allow him to get back to his children, family and career.

According to Atlanta’s WSB-TV, prosecutors proposed a 20-year sentence for YFN Lucci, with 10 of the years being served in prison and the other 10 served as probation. Lucci would also get credit for time served, and he has been incarcerated since turning himself in to authorities in January 2021. He is eligible for parole in three and a half months, and, if the parole is granted, he would be eligible to serve the rest of his sentence on probation.
